Artefill is a long-term filler for nasolabial folds and marionette lines that was well-liked by many plastic surgeons and dermatologists as well as their patients. Unfortunately, during the recent economic slowdown the company went under and until recently there was no Artefill to be had. The product maintained its FDA approval, however, and was recently purchased by Suneva Medical for over $200 million.
We are not big Artefill people here in our Bakersfield plastic surgery practice. We prefer the hyaluronic acid fillers and Sculptra, which have proved to be efficient and reliable. There’s currently another study on Artefill since it was purchased by Suneva. We’ll see how that one turns out before we make a decision to offer it.
